Product code: Octagonal Hand Painted Noritake top Morimura Brothers Nippon Console Or Serving Bowl with Moriage Handles
This exquisit hand painted 8 sided bowl was made between 1891-1921, as Nippon, the Japanese equivalent word for top Japan, was outlawed by U.S. in 1921 and laws stated that each country importing into the U.S. must use English to identify the country of origin.
The bowl is 3 1/2" tall, 10" wide from handle to handle and the base is 5 7/8" in diameter.
The bowl is hand painted with Chestnuts and the stage while flowering. There is A LOT going on here with the detailed edging with 8 pointed stars. The handles have raised painted detail, moriage, and the inner bowl is just amazingly done. There is a spot on a leaf that is part of the manufacture.
