Gorgeous vintage satin Ditsy pink floral quilt on white top shabby chic "American Eiderdown"

This gorgeous quilt is one of my last "American eiderdown" remaining. It is one of my most beautiful condition wise and has such gorgeous colors.

This pretty quilt still bears its "Dacron" label by S. Sumergrade & Sons out of NYC. The company (C1928) was a leading manufacturer in goose downs as well as many other high end textiles that were sold by luxury dept stores such as Saks.

These were commonly referred to as American eiderdowns" and were very popular around mid century. They were made with "Terylene" in the UK and "Dacron" in the US. after the 1970's they went to polyester as the synthetic cottons were too expensive on a mass manufactured scale.

I have sold all of my UK terylenes and kept this American due to its very pretty / unique colors.

This vintage quilt dates from aprox 1960's -It has the most beautiful lilac roses on white that are still very vibrant. The back has a solid contrasting color that depicts pale lilac and pink depending on the room.

Thus pretty makes the most beautiful decorative quilt or bed topper. I love these as large throws and tossed over beds and chairs and rolled up on cabinets.

This lovely quilt was laundered and hung to dry. It is vintage and one should expect signs of previous love as consistent with age and wear. With that stated it is one of the best I've owned condition wise.
