The beautiful brushed-aluminum Pelouze Y50 postal scale is in great condition. The aluminum on the back part of the scale has more of a matte finish as opposed to the shinier silvery finish on the weigh table at the top and the arched frame surrounding the front window. The gorgeous grayish-silver body is beautifully accented with very plain - yet bold - white and black colors. The white numbers and background are highlighted with the very-black border that makes up the individual marks on the scale. While it may be somewhat difficult to notice by looking straight-on at the scale, the white background sits behind a very-clear unbreakable plastic window. The contrasting depth between the black border and white background along with the grayish-silver finish of the body give this beautiful brushed aluminum Pelouze postal scale a modern industrial charm. Along with its aesthetically attractive appearance, it is important to note that the accents on the front of this particular Pelouze Y50 scale represent the rates as they were in January 1995. While the top of the scale window has "MADE IN U.S.A.", the bottom of the window has "NOT LEGAL FOR TRADE BRIDGEVIEW IL 60455 U.S.A. PAT. 2653565 1995" just below the black table in the center. The left of the clear plastic window has "pelouze" with "SEE LOCAL POST OFFICE FOR ZONE CHART" just below. The right of the window shows "MODEL Y50" with "50 lb x 2 oz JANUARY 1995 RATES" just below. Hence, the "0" to "49" marks around the window represent the 50 pound max weight measurement while the space between each individual hash mark between each of the numbers represent 2 ounces. At the bottom of the window there is a "NOT GLASS" molded into the clear plastic window to the left and "UNBREAKABLE" on the right. On the top of the scale just under the slightly distressed shinier silvery finish of the weigh table there is a black sticker with a dual-pointed "U" shaped arrow with "ZERO ADJUSTMENT KNOB" just below. The instructions for setting the scale are on the lower section of the same black sticker and read as follows: "How To Use The Zero Adjustment Knob. Prior to each weighing, align red pointer to zero using zero adjustment knob." Finally, there are four protruding aluminum feet on the bottom that not only help to give the scale balance, but also keep it slightly above whatever surface it might be resting on.

There is one little area at the bottom right of the window where the aluminum trim is slightly lower in the corner. While it is very hard to notice, there is a tiny downward bend located to the bottom right of number 23. Other than this, there are no dents, breaks, cracks, loose sections, or repair places on this beautiful brushed-aluminum Pelouze Y50 postal scale. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the scale - mainly in the form of slight distress on the weigh table from use and age. Also, there are some very slight and hard-to-notice distress marks on the surface of the clear plastic window. In addition, the zero adjustment knob along with its lively red needle is in great working condition.
