Pencil watercolour ink drawing 1894 Ireland portrait top young woman needs restoration hand made artist unknown antique art hand drawn portrait
top This antique artwork is an exceptional item. It was created in the late 1800s with evidence of its age being recorded on newspaper which is on the reverse of the image. The year 1894 is recorded on an advertisement and also on the mounting card which was cut from a box of a supplier of women's fashions of the period.
The artwork, the oval frame (from card) and the backing card originate from the 1800s. All are in need of restoration.
The artwork seems to have been drawn with pencil and watercolour or ink. The artist is unknown and the work is not signed.
The drawing is beautifully executed with lace being carefully rendered and the young woman's hair revealed in soft curls.
This item has a beauty all of its own, even if it is not restored. If restored it will add much to its value and intrigue.
