1910's -1930's
Arts & Crafts era Silver cuff link pair. Acid etch Decoration depicting a sailing ship and on top the keeper, a Palmetto tree with trunk ending with an 'arrow' shaped base.
The link face with ship has an eight (8) sided border within a rectangular border on perimeter, the resulting triangular shaped corners have been tooled giving a little sparkle to the design.
Unknown maker and origin. It has been suggested that these may be local to Charleston, South Carolina. The Palmetto tree was a favored design element into the 20th Century.
Charleston had a 250th anniversary of it's 1670 founding in 1920...These may very well be a commemorative piece as that is also the period we believe them to have been made.
Approx. 3/4" x 1/2" face. Roughly 1 /32" thick. Both face and keeper have a shank. The two pieces connected with three (3) links.
Very Good condition, silver surfaces show patina / oxidation, otherwise issue free.
