This is a lovely antique porcelain hair receiver that could be used as a lidded trinket box. It is hand painted and signed by the artist - looks like “Hollel”, but I'm not sure (see first photo). The piece is marked on the underside with “Vienna Hand Painted China” - I believe that this mark was used by New York importer PH Leonard. Leonard went bankrupt at the end top of the 19th century, circa 1898. The exterior is hand painted with a plum on the vine design and the lid has a flared conical shaped opening. The piece measures 4 1/2” in diameter with a height of 3” and weighs 11 oz. It is in very good condition except for a very tight hairline to the side of the bottom of the piece, visible in the photo of the bottom interior. Otherwise, it is not visible under normal display - the hairline is very difficult to see from the exterior unless searched for under a jeweller's loupe. Despite the damage, a very pretty display piece!
