'The Book of the Thames' is a comprehensive and engaging history of the River Thames. The river has been an important fixture throughout history, being an economic resource, a maritime route, a boundary, a fresh water source, and a source of food.

Illustrated with numerous in-text engravings throughout.

Written by husband and wife Samuel Carter Hall and top Anna Maria Hall. Samuel was a journalist who was best known for editing 'The Art Journal' and for his much-satirised personality. Anna was a novelist who was best known for her works on Irish life.
