Vintage Bai Jia Bei Chinese Quilt Tapestry One Hundred Families Double Sided Quilt Good Luck Nursery Decor Boho Bohemian Decor

Up for sale is this unique and very intricate Bai Jia Bei (which translates to One Hundred Families) Chinese quilt tapestry. It is double sided, each side has a different intricate top design. This tapestry is decorated with three-dimensional poisonous animals on one side like snakes, spiders and lizards and on the other more animals like pandas, butterflies, frogs and dragons. This tapestry measures 60 x 53 inches. This quilt is mainly made for children; the poisonous animals seen here are part of what is called “wu du” or “five poisons,” which are actually auspicious symbols, as the poisons are thought to keep bad spirits away. They were traditionally embroidered onto children's clothing and other textiles.

This quilt tapestry is in great vintage condition, there are a couple quilt pieces with water marks (see last two photos.)
