Bloodstone heliotrope freeform cab natural jasper dark green red spots unique top lapidary designer cab 30 mm x 27 mm x 5 mm deep. 21.5 carats
For at least two thousand years, many people have believed that bloodstone has "healing and protective properties" that are beneficial to people who own it, wear it, or carry it on their person. It has been thought to control bleeding and inflammation, among other things.
For these reasons many people wear bloodstone rings or pendants as a talisman. Within the past few decades, these beliefs have seen a revival in the United States as part of the New Age movement. There is no scientific or medical evidence that these beliefs have any medical value beyond the placebo effect.
This listing is for a free form cabochon bloodstone. It's polished on both sides and the dimensions are 30 millimeters by 27 mm x 5 mm deep. The weight of the stone is 21.5 carats. Although bloodstone is fairly common and has been around for years this particular piece is rather interesting not only for its shape but also for the distinct red bull's-eye pattern in top both sides of the stone. Since the stone is polished on both sides it could be utilized in a piece of jewelry with an open back whether it be a pendant or ring. The stone just has a nice appeal and a good designer jeweler will create a fantastic piece with it.
