'Nuns and Soldiers' is a study of the friendship between Gertrude, a widow, and Anne, the nun of the title. Following her bereavement, Gertrude finds herself surrounded by suitors and friends, some of questionable motive. In exploring the conflict between desire and obligation, the celebrated author teases out the moral ambiguities of her finely observed characters.
In a dustwrapper with striking design by Will Carter. Condition Report: In original cloth binding with unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Just a touch of bumping to the extremities. Dustwrapper has some slight discolouration and a couple of small closed tears to head and tail of spine, but is otherwise very smart. Internally, firmly bound top. Pages are bright, and clean.
