The Maisie bag - vintage grain sack tote bag with leather panel, top William Morris lining and riveted leather handles

This beautiful bag is an original, limited edition design using a mixture of textiles. It's made from a vintage grain sack with a single red stripe running vertically on both sides, and a panel of leather around the top of the bag. It has an original repair patch on one side which I've left untouched as I love the vintage charm of visible mending.

The bag is fully lined in 'Lodden Dusk', a 100% cotton fabric by iconic designer William Morris, with intertwined flowers and foliage in blue/green hues with gold and mauve.

On the inside there are two pockets, on one side there is a slip pocket and on the other top side, a large zipped pocket with a leather zip pull which is lined in plain cotton.

The genuine leather handles are handmade and cut from rich brown leather, the ends are rounded and the handles are riveted onto the bag, with an antique brass D ring attached to the longer ends on both the front and the back of the bag.

The bag has been interfaced to give it structure and the bottom corners of the bag have been boxed to give volume and shape. The bag closes with an antique brass magnetic clasp.

* Leather handles total length 30" (76.5cm) with a drop of approx 10" (25.5cm)

This handcrafted bag is made from an authentic vintage grain sack which have an organic, rustic look with natural fibres and nubs in the weave, this is not a fault and is part of the charm of these lovely country style bags. Combined with the gorgeous lining it makes a fabulous bag that I hope you will love and use for years.

I send my tote bags out beautifully wrapped with tissue paper and ribbon in a bespoke box.
