Hand forged high-carbon steel knife with Stabilized Buckeye Burl handle scales with brass pins. 3.5" blade, 4" handle; 8" overall. Sturdy drop point style, full tang knife hammered from 1084 carbon steel 1.5" max top blade depth. Sturdy enough for camping, attractive enough for glamping. Unique shape that welcomes the hand.
Buckeye Burl is a very interesting wood for knife handles showing highly contrasting tan and black pattern for a unique and different look with each piece. By injecting resin into all of the veins and voids of the wood, stabilized wood maintains the pattern but adds strength and density. Stabilizing creates an interesting and unique effect with the wood's natural grain. Stabilized woods repel moisture and prevent swelling and reshaping over time making it superior to many other handle materials. Stabilized handles have more density than normal wood. The final effect is somewhat like smooth marble.
High carbon knives should not be placed in dishwasher. Size is good for small item preparation cutting in a kitchen, but is rugged enough to be a EDC, camping or working knife. Smooth, shaped handle for comfortable grip.
Stubborn Forge knives are each unique and made by hand hammering and hand-guided machine grinding with simple belt sander. Each will have minor irregularities, asymmetries, forging marks and natural variations in the steel. Stubborn Forge intends and embraces these individual features as qualities giving each knife a sense of both the refined and the primitive.
