A blotter is a journal or letter writers friend. A great gift for anyone who writes with a pen, especially a fountain pen. It blots up excess ink quickly, avoiding smudges on your writing. This is a quality, pivot head blotter with felted rocker from the 1920s Art Deco period.
A Rocker Blotter is used to blot excess ink ... basically designed so that you don't have to wait for the ink to dry. An absolute must if you use a fountain pen or pen with easily smudged ink. You simply rock the blotter over your writing and it blots up any excess ink so it doesn't smudge. It's easy to change the paper as well. Simply pivot the top plate, take out the blotting paper and replace with new. A blotter is old fashioned in concept, definitely from the days before computers when everyone had to write, but for those who still do, this does the deed beautifully.
This blotter is made of oak and has a good weight to it. It comes with several pieces of old paper, in yellow. The rocker is padded with an attached red felt.
It measures: 18 cm (7 inches) in length, by 8 cm (3 1/4 inches) wide, and approximately 8.5 cm (3 1/4 in) high.
This is a vintage item from the 1920s. It is a pre-loved item, a little time worn, with some wear and patina of use to the wood. Overall the blotter is in excellent working condition. The blotting papers currently attached could be used right away.
