Product code: Vintage 1950/60 Midas of Miami top White Wicker Purse
This charming beaded & jeweled Midas top of Miami white wicker purse was made in the 1950s-early 1960s. It is a sturdy little bag and all of the beading, gold rope trim, embroidery and beads are intact. The braided handles are firm & in mint condition. There is some minor wear on the white wicker here and there. The brass fittings have tarnished with age. The interior rosy pink satin lining is fairly clean, with no rips tears or holes. The label reads “An Original by Midas of Miami, Handicrafts, Inc., Miami Florida”. Please see photos for details. All the purses were designed by June Wagner Blum, born in 1913. The idea of making wicker purses came after buying some baskets from a salesman. Her purses became well known works of art & many were custom made to order. June passed away in 2016 at 102 years of age! Midas of Miami bags similar in design to this one are selling now on EBay, Etsy & Poshmark for $89-$135 (and higher).
