Old Fashioned Water Tower 4”x4” framed top mini quilt

This series is based on childhood memories of observing the world through a car window. Hitting emotionally somewhere between a sad song and a happy childhood memory, these small quilted pieces explore constructs of consumption on the landscape. This particular piece features an appliquéd and hand embroidered water tower. Materials include repurposed clothing, scraps from other quilters, and upholstery remnants. The papier-mâché top frame is made of recycled paper coated in acrylic medium. The main techniques are hand embroidery, reverse appliqué, and machine stitching.
