Delft Blue Wall Plate D23cm, Royal Tichelaar Makkum Hand painted Dutch Heritage Cobalt Blue Delftware Pottery with top Flower Decor

A lovely antique / vintage Delft Blue wall plate, decorated with hand painted cobalt blue ornament, featuring the traditional chinoiserie flowers ornament.
A wonderful collectible piece of tin glazed old Dutch heritage delftware pottery, signed by the maker. On the back side the dish has two small holes in its foot ring with a wire for hanging it on a wall. This plate was made by Royal Tichelaar Makkum.

The plate measures 9 1/5 inches (23.5 cm) in diameter and 1 2/5 inches (3.6 cm) high
Weight of the item: 398 grams
The plate is marked on the bottom with Makkum mark, there is model number: 964, it is also signed with the maker's initial.
Excellent vintage vintage condition. There is no damage, no chips nor visible crazing.

Royal Tichelaar pottery was made in the town of Makkum in Friesland in the north of The Netherlands.
The factory was active from 1572. Therefore Royal Tichelaar Makkum is regarded to be the oldest pottery company in the Netherlands.
The company is still existing and remains focused on preserving its traditions.
Tichelaar Makkum pottery is still handmade according to century-old traditions. The earthenware (made from local yellow clay) is shaped by hand and after a first firing is glazed with an opaque white tin glaze. After that the item gets hand painted over the first layer of glaze and then the colors get fused through a second firing. This creates a product with a beautiful and unique appearance.
