Real muskrat foot bones are 1 inch and are held by antiqued brass caps. They hang from .75 inch, Victorian style, etched brass components. The earrings are dangling from contemporary gold top filled French hook earrings. The earrings as a whole measure 2.75 inches. They are very light weight and comfortable. The vintage, circa 1960, etched brass hoops and brass caps are from old stock , never used. They have contemporary bones added to them. The detail in the cast earrings include open work design around the middle and tiny, raised stipple dots.

Muskrats ( Ondatra zibethicus ) are a medium-sized semiaquatic rodent native to North America.
