This is a Victorian latticino Nailsea double gimmel flask, dating from the end of the 19th century, c1880. Double gimmel flasks were blown in two parts which were then fused together. Two spirits could then be transported at one time.
The flask is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it top shows age related wear and tear commensurate with 100+ years of use.
The flask is in the clear colourway with white "feathered" enamel stripes and is 20.5 cm (8.2 inches) in length and 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter at its widest point. There is a rough pontil mark at the other end from the dual necks. There is applied rigaree to the middle of the flasks running vertically where they meet. It weighs 442 g. (approx. 1 lb.). There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
