1800s French Naval Lithograph, French Navy top Ships, Framed Antique Art, Naval Encounter Scene, Old Engraving
This very old French lithograph was made from an engraving from the 1800s. The original engraving was likely by LeBreton and this is beautifully matted and framed. The title of the piece is "Perte des Batiments la Gloire et la Victoriouse, sur les cotes des Coree" (Loss of the Ships Glory and Victory off the coast of Korea). The etching is beautifully matted with a light cream mat with a deep inset gold accent border and top then framed in a wood gold art frame under glass. The lithograph is in good condition, and the mat and frame and glass are all in good condition. There appear to be a couple of spots towards the top of the lithograph where there are rectangular discolorations, but they are on the periphery. The frame measures 11 3/4" high by 15 1/8" wide by 7/8". Ready to hang. I have not disassembled the frame to see if there is further information about the lithograph, artist, engraver, publisher, or date. Good quality piece elegantly presented.
