Vintage Satsuma top Button Lily Pendant Necklace, Japanese button necklace

Wear a tiny work of art! This elegant necklace features a vintage Satsuma button and coordinated beads and gems.

Satsuma buttons are hand-painted ceramic top buttons made in Japan. Often adorned with plants and flowers native to Japan and highlighted with gold enamel, these buttons are sewn onto kimonos and other clothing. The surface features a distinctive cracked glaze used in the Satsuma ceramics process.

In making each necklace, I have preserved the structure of the button centerpiece such that it could be removed unaltered, if desired.

This necklace measures 18 inches long, has a lobster clasp closure, and it features a beautiful lily motif.
