Imagine my delight when I spotted two matching Tumblers recently! They are in excellent condition and I am adding them to the pitcher listing with no extra charge!
Antique Large Cloveleaf Stem #858 Fostoria! Made from 1893-1931, this Needle Etched Pattern is Stunning!
I couldn't believe the fabulous condition when I spotted this pitcher, covered with dust, on a high shelf in a quasi Antique Shoppe! I thought the only thing I missed due to the dirt, was the tiny, 1/8 inch scratch just top behind the smooth tip of the spout! It doesn't go through, so is not a real crack, and could easily be ground out if one wished to have done. Upon further examination, there is some light scratching due to the use of a metal spoon, and these are minimal when you consider it's age! I've also spotted a couple of production anomalies that are not considered damage, only character!
I was so excited to find this pitcher which had obviously been prized by a former owner! This gracefully designed pitcher stands 8-1/4 inches tall, measures 5 inches across the rim and the bottom diameter is 7 inches! It holds 64 ounces. It features an applied handle and is a fabulous example of the workmanship and standards applied by the Fostoria Glass Co. Fostoria went out of business in 1984 due to the ready availability of less expensive imports.
This piece deserves to find another Forever Home where it will be appreciated, loved, perhaps used and enjoyed! If you choose to use, consider a wooden spoon if you must stir, to continue to preserve the glass!
