Hand Carved Green Jay on Hardwood Base - top Signed by Artist "DB" - 20" long - 9 3/4" tall - 5 1/2" wide
Just "WOW".
Came across this AMAZING, folk art bird sculpture at a resale shop in the Texas Hill Country.
It was pretty dusty...so I cleaned it off as best I could. It brought out the depth of color in the base.
It is a Green Jay.
It is hand carved out of a hardwood.
Painted in blues, greens, black, gray and a little orangey/red.
It is standing on a piece of hardwood also. It may be mesquite.
It has wire legs that are inset into the base. The base has been stained a darker color.
It is signed (carved into the base, "DB").
I did SO much research online and can not for the life of me figure out who the top artist is/was.
But this piece is truly beautiful.
It's heavy too! Weighing in at 3 pounds, 9.2 ounces.
It is 20" long - 9 3/4" tall - 5 1/2" wide.
Wonderful piece of folk art for the folk art/bird collector!
