This handcrafted chawan (Tea Bowl) was thrown on the potter's wheel with an iron bearing stoneware containing a heavy feldspar aggregate. It was then glazed and fired to Cone 10 (about 2350F, 1287C). This clay is completely vitrified at this temperature and can safely be microwaved. Due to the top amount of surface texture on these pieces hand washing is recommended.
