This quilt was so much fun to make! I chose a variety of 100% quilting cottons so there are lots of different colors and patterns for a baby girl to explore. The quilt is approximately 36" x 41" and is made from 2 ½ inch squares sewn in a checkerboard pattern and framed by lavender and white polka dot fabric sashing. The binding is a pale gray and white polka dot which frames the quilt beautifully! The backing has a purple background scattered with daisies. If you or your little girl love purple, this is the quilt for you!
I used Warm and Natural cotton batting so the quilt fabric and batting are both 100% cotton. It is quilted by machine with 100% cotton thread by Aurifil. I stitch the binding down by hand which shows in the last picture. I washed the quilt in warm water on a regular cycle to check for colorfastness and shrinkage before measuring. It is soft and clean and ready to use when it arrives!
Just a note about premium quilting cotton: I had a grandmother recently tell me that a custom play quilt I made for her triplet grandsons (when they were babies) still looks like new and has held up beautiful. They are 6 years old now and sill use it all the time for picnics or in the back of the car. It has gone through many washings! Premium quilting cotton is the best!!
