In this listing we are pleased to offer two medium sized sauce pan with handle from the tableware series Daisy by Figgjo of Norway.

In mint condition/next to new!

We have decided to sell most of our Daisy collection, so please take a look at our other listings as well. Of course we combine shipping depending on the total weight. Excess shipping will be refunded immediately.

We are selling one other in the same size with some signs of use, hence we listed it separately. And we are selling three of the smallest size also in (near) mint condition.

On the Norwegian ceramics design scale, Daisy stands quite apart from all other mid century designs that were made by Figgjo and others. A stylised daisy was chosen as the central prominent and only flower motif. Ironically the daisy is the national flower of Scandinavian neighbor Denmark and features in some of Denmark's best design from the period.

Moreover a stunning deep blue background color was chosen whereas nearly all other series had a decor against a standard white background. This combination makes Daisy one of the top if not the most collectable mid century modern Norwegian tableware series today.

It came out soon after the merger between Figgjo Fajanse AS with its main competitor Stavangerflint AS, that was concluded in 1968.

Daisy was in production from 1969 to 1975.
Made from glazed earthenware/ceramics which is translated as Flint in Norwegian.

The shapes of the individual items were by Jørg Løve Nielsen & Ragnar Grimsrud which were also used for other series.

The fabulous decor was designed by Turi Gramstad Oliver.

About the designer
Turi Gramstad Oliver (born in 1938) is a craftsperson and artist born in Sandnes in Rogaland, Norway. She was trained as a ceramist by Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo between 1956-1958, while working for the pottery workshop of Kari Nyqvist at the same time. She then continued her education at the Craft School in Bergen until 1960. Before graduating, she worked with Stavangerflint for a brief period.

In 1960 she was employed as a designer at Figgjo Faience AS where throughout her twenty years there created many of the company's most famous decors: "Daisy" most notably but also "Arden", "Elvira," "Market", "Lotte", "Tor Viking," "Clupea" and many others.

After Turi Gramstad Oliver stopped working at Figgjo AS in 1980, she continued to work as an artist and craftsperson, especially focussing on textile and paper prints.

This sauce pan has an opening at the end of the handle so you can hang it ons a hook or screw in your kitchen to look at and enjoy it everyday.

Stamped on the bottom with turi-design, Daisy, made in Norway and the Figgjo Flint (F/F) logo.

Also the model number 12016 is engraved on the bottom.

Condition:
Mint condition.

One of the two has never ever been used and is in new condition.

The other has a few needle point size scuffs on the inside bottom but to notice them you really need to hold it to the light in a certain way so faint they are and they did not affect the Daisy decoration at all.

Good fresh colors. Glazing still very strong.

No damage to the ceramics, no staining, no cracks.
