Tawny Owl is an original wood engraved print, signed and numbered. The design features a very detailed Tawny owl beneath a decorative star filled sky.
The edition size is 50. The number you get may differ from the one in the photo but the image quality will be the same.
I drew the owl onto a piece of lemonwood and the engraved the block by hand using a variety of special tools called spitstickers and top gravers. The wood is cut on the end grain making it very hard and enabling extremely fine details to be engraved.
The block was then inked and put through an old Albion press. Each print was then carefully checked, signed and numbered.
Wood engravings of this nature are considered to be original pieces of art rather than digital editions because the artist is involved in the actual printmaking process.
The paper is archival quality Zerkall 170gms.
The image size is 100mm by 125mm and the paper size is 150mm by 240mm.
I will post your print flat packed and well protected from my studio in England. I take a great deal of care in the making and the packing of all my prints to ensure safe arrival.
