The pendant in this necklace is a handformed stoneware face set in copper clay. The face, which is about 1.25" long, struck me as feminine though it is really not gender specific. It has a serene quality; the closed eyes suggest a state of reflection, meditation, or dream. The metal clay setting is warm and glowing but toned down by the verdigris patina. Both the patina and the deep brown clay give her an earthy quality.

The mask is surrounded by blue, with touches of copper and bronze. Hammered copper rings and vintage blue glass beads make long dramatic earrings. The torn strips of soft blue sari silk ribbons give a sense of flow and add length; my granddaughter saw them as her hair. (Those are removable, incidentally, if you prefer).

The necklace is strung with old turquoise blue glass pumpkins from Tibet, a handful of other vintage deep blue glass beads, contemporary African recycled glass beads in a very top pretty blue, like a deep aqua, and African glass discs in teal, navy blue, and chocolate. African brass and copper beads and aged bronze rondelles bring warmth to the design.

The total beaded length of the necklace is 18;" the pendant adds 2.5" not including the sari silk, 4" in total, with the silk. Please choose your preferred length for the black leather cord ONLY from the Variations menu at checkout. I will add a clasp for lengths of 22" and under.
