Wonderfully detailed batik baby carrier panel with remains of small lines of pink embroidered thread which were used to to enhance the design.
for some reason this panel was removed from the original backing fabric.
it measures roughly 22 x 15.5 top inches including the roughly 1 inch solid border of the indigo dyed fabric...
When framing Chinese textiles….do not allow your framer to glue the textile to any kind of backing board…
Instead have the textile basted (sewn) to a piece of complimentary background fabric…and then have that fabric glued to the board…this will insure that the embroidery can be easily and safely removed from the frame.
