This is a wonderfully evocative Celtic Cross brooch by renowned Scottish silver jewellery maker Malcolm Gray. This fabulous traditional style sterling silver brooch has a design inspired by sandstone carvings found in the St Magnus Cathedral on Orkney.
The brooch is in great condition, just gently softened with wear and age. There are one or two small areas of tarnishing and light scratches to the surface.
This brooch is marked "MG" and "SILVER" and tests positive for sterling silver. I recently had a pendant in the same design which was hallmarked and dated from the late 1970s - I think this brooch has a similar date.
Weight: 6g (so hallmarking was not required)
