Beatrix Potter was a woman ahead of her time. Not only was she an accomplished children's author and illustrator, she was a passionate and knowledgeable farmer and conservationist - long before conservation became popular and fashionable. Several years later Beatrix turned one of the tales into a picture book. It was rejected by several publishers, so she privately printed 250 copies of it herself. The Tale of Peter Rabbit was a great success with family and friends.

In 1902, Frederick Warne & Co agreed to publish an initial quantity of 8,000. They sold out instantly and Beatrix's career as a storyteller was launched.Please check the condition as these wonderful classics are very well worn.

This collection of Frederick Warne & Co - Beatrix Potter books are in bright primary colours covered in cloth with gold gilt text on each spine. The books are in excellent condition with one box set unopened with lovely illustrated plates they are all still in their originally sets of 4 in a card folio. two are printed in peach with scenes from Peter Rabbit and one ia a grey marbled card enclosure.

These wonderful rare sets were printed in the 1980s and all the books are in wonderful like new condition with the gilt gold text bright
