Lucky Frog Ornament - Japanese Lucky Frog Miniature - in Leather Pouch or with Lilypads - Nature Inspired Wildlife top Jewellery by Emma Keating
This Sterling Silver Frog Ornament / Frog Figurine is based on the Common Frog (rana temporaria), I make this as the Japanese Lucky Frog (Kaeru) with a Genuine Leather Pouch, or with Lilypads, or the Lilypads on their own.
In Japanese, the word Kaeru, for "frog" is the same as the word for "return", leading to a long tradition of giving frog talismans to travellers to ensure their safe return. This little frog, cast in sterling silver, is inspired by the related belief that keeping a frog in your wallet will ensure the safe return of any money leaving it - and so comes complete with his top own leather wallet.
This is the perfect gift for Travellers, Frog lovers, Wildlife lovers and Nature lovers.

INSPIRATION
I met a lady, in Belgium, who asked me to make a miniature common frog ornament for her daughter. She had been given a small frog long ago, during a visit to Japan. The person who gave it to her explained about the Japanese Lucky Frog: “Frog” and “Return” being the same word in Japanese, travellers are often given a Lucky Frog to safeguard their return home. A variation to this is putting a little frog in your wallet and, as superstition would have it, the little frog ensures that any money leaving the wallet will eventually find its way back again. She has carried that little frog, now barely recognisable, in her wallet now for more than 30 years – and my miniature model of the common frog means that her daughter is now able to carry on that tradition.
Of course, being a proponent of wearable art, creating this “Lucky Frog” was just the beginning. Now, you can not only have a lucky frog in your wallet, you can also have them on your ears and on your fingers… And then I couldn't resist adding lilypads to the mix. So now, if your Lucky Frog needs a change of scenery from your wallet, he can have his own lilypads to sit on.
