Product code: Vintage Australian Landscape Oil Painting top by Anne Bates
Up for sale is an absolutely incredible beautiful plein air landscape oil painting on canvas board. The painting depicts a road in a desert area with a mountain in the distance in the area of Wilpena in South Australia. It is signed "A. Bates" at lower right. On verso, the artist is identified as Anne Bates, and her address is indicated. It is also titled, "Near Wilpena," referring to a city in South Australia (which is also the territory where Ms. Bates lived). I don't see a date, but it looks 1960's through 1980's to me. It's a beautiful piece and framed in a midcentury style frame with linen matting. The painting is in very good condition with a few light smudges/scuffs. Frame is in excellent condition. Matting is a little stained. Painting measures top 7 inches wide x 5 inches high. Frame measures approximately 11.125 inches wide x 9.25 inches high.
