179 YEAR OLD ANTIQUE GARMENT 19th Century Antique Nightshirt Embroidered 1844 Date & Initial Monogram Antique Victorian Ivory Cotton (could also be linen) Sleeve 17.5" Collar to Hem 43" Armpit to Armpit 22" Shoulder to Shoulder 22" CONDITION NOTES Cloth is in overall good condition and looks unworn. Initials are monogrammed by hand embroidery on front as well as the date 1844. Unfortunately there is a clean split in the cloth where the date was embroidered which will need repaired. The bottom shows minimal yellowing and foxing which is expected on a nearly 200 year old textile. Good dry cleaners offer service that can repair torn fabric expertly so it looks like there wasn't a tear. I priced low for an allowance to get the tear repaired. Its not terribly expensive to do. This textile came to me via a home organizer top who brought me a box of antique Victorian & Edwardian linens embroidered with dates that included christening gowns, crocheted purses and hankies.
