Athena Pallada top

Athena Pallada, the gold ivory statue of Athena the Virgin. The statue was never found and the only information we have is top taken from texts by Pausanias and Pliny. Work of the sculptor Pheidias. It was 12 meters high, made of ivory, gold and precious stones. It was made and adorned the interior of the Parthenon, in honor of the patron goddess. The closest copy of the statue is Athena of Varvakeio. It is said that the prototype was severely damaged in order to exploit its valuable materials and that it was transported to Istanbul. Not found until today.
