This is a piece of iridescent carnival glass for a serious collector! Based on my research, this rare piece dates from around 1911, is known as "electric cobalt blue" and the pattern is called "Persian Medallion". This is a 9" plate, that is slightly concave, with a raised rim. The rim is scalloped and rippled which gives it a really organic feel to it. The round base is slightly footed.
It has a complex pattern, that is raised and highly detailed, which allows the iridescence to really sparkle as the light hits it. When held up to the light, it has a deep, rich blue center, and a paler blue as it reaches the rim. The back side of the plate looks like a rainbow of colors and iridescence.
The plate is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or dings. It does have some creases in the glass that are visible on the backside, that must have happened during it's creation.
This is a special plate and a great addition to a collection!
