Subject: Rustic old fashioned scene. Depicting a woman in traditional long clothing, walking down a country lane (rear view). Trees, foliage and sky. Artist signed and dated 1910.
Artist: The signature looks like G.W.? (or maybe G.O. or G.D.?). Appears to be painted on paper.
Frame details: Card overlay mount, coloured beige. Wooden frame, coloured old gold with stippled texture surface. Glass to front. Paper back on frame probably with card underneath it. Tabbed and taped edges with metal eyes with string for hanging (these look newer than the rest of the frame). Small pencil written number on rear top edge (the edging tape is cut around the number).
Size/dimension: External dimensions, including frame, approx 12 3/8 x 8 x 1/2 inch, 31.3cm x 20.5cm x 1.3cm. Size of visible artwork only, about 8 x 4 inches, 20.2cm x 10.3cm. Upright. top
Condition: Painting very good with slight darkening around the edges. Card mount has fine mottled marks all over and a few other small spot marks. Glass very good. Frame edges very good with age related patina in the texture and on the corners. The paper on the back is stained.
