Post Angkor 500 year old Khmer jar.

The post Angkor period of the top Khmer empire, began in the early 15th century. Also known as the Dark Age, it begins with a Thai sacking of the once mighty city of Angkor Tom, and the abandonment of the temples at Angkor and retreat to the south of Cambodia and to the mighty Mekong River.

This beautiful little jar dates to that period, had remained buried and well preserved for centuries. A simple classic form, with lug handles and bands below the rim. Slight two tone glaze.

Superb condition, for a piece that has spent centuries buried. No chips no damage.
