Handmade ceramic mushroom top incense burner, cone or stick

Adorable incense burners with little doors to assist airflow. These have a spot on top for stick style incense or you can use cones inside. The gills on the mushrooms have holes situated randomly so smoke can creep out under the cap of the mushy.

Process:
Each pot is handmade here at Stardust Clayworks. I usually start with a ball of clay and raise a few pieces at the same time. Making multiples gives you the ability to work back and forth as pieces become less plastic and are ready for more working. The sculpting usually takes a couple days to complete in between working on other pots or tile designs simultaneously. The pot is then set aside to dry completely. Once dry ,color is hand painted using terra sigillatta infused with mason stains. At this point the pot will get a first of two firings. After the first firing , stain and additional surface treatment is applied for a final firing.
