Product code: Embossed Sheffield Dessert / Salad Plate Olde Avesbury top (Ely Chelsea Shape) by ROYAL CROWN DERBY with Birds of Paradise and Peacocks

Two Embossed Sheffield Dessert / Salad Plate Olde Avesbury (Ely Chelsea Shape) by Royal Crown Derby. These plates are embossed with beautiful colors of golds, pinks, yellows, lavenders and greens. They have images of Birds of Paradise and Peacocks, trees and flowers. They are exquisite in design and perfect in their condition. They would be a welcome addition to a wall dispay of collectible plates or atop white dinner plates for that pop of color on your table for that special dinner. However you plan to use them, use them.... because it would be a shame to see these sit in a cupboard.
The are approximately 8.25" in diameter, scalloped edge, rimmed in gold with no chips or cracks. They are bone china, made in England with Old Avesbury Derby China Stamp on the back. Piece Code of A73. It is recomended that you hand wash these top plate to keep their integrity and brilliant colors.

* History per the web:
The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company is the oldest or second oldest remaining English porcelain manufacturer, based in Derby, England (disputed by Royal Worcester, who claim 1751 as their year of establishment). The company, particularly known for its high-quality bone china, having produced tableware and ornamental items since approximately 1750. It was known as 'Derby Porcelain' until 1773, when it became 'Crown Derby', the 'Royal' being added in 1890. The factory closed down in the past under Royal Doulton ownership, but production was revived under the renewed ownership of Hugh Gibson and Pearson family.

Elegant Royal Crown Derby Olde Avesbury pattern dates back to 1932 when it was housed in the Royal Crown Derby Archives. The Aves pattern originated from an embroidery pattern by painter, Albert Gregory, and is adorned with dramatic birds of paradise and peacocks with elegant trailing feathers.
