In our shop we transform authentic reclaimed barn wood into one of a kind magical Fairy/ Gnome and hobbit inspired Bird houses. These functional bird houses are handmade of quality solid wood construction and embellished with natural cedar branches. tree rounds, twigs, and rocks gathered by hand from our property. Nothing is cut down we only use fallen branches and trees. The rocks are taken from a small creek that runs through our property. They are built to withstand the elements. We use only solid wood, and all joints are nailed and glued with Titebond III exterior glue. The finishes are water-based stains, paints, and dyes. Each house has two coats of exterior grade Spar Urethane applied to the exterior to create a durable seal on the wood. The interior is left unfinished for the benefit of the birds. The floor space is 5”x5”. The entry hole is 1-9/16” and 6” above the floor with a predator protection ring around it. The front interior wall has a kerf ladder to make it easier for fledglings to climb out when they are ready to leave the nest. The house is ventilated, and the bottom slides out for easy annual cleaning. The back of the top house has a sturdy channel that slides over a mounting block and exterior screws are included. You can attach the mounting block to a tree, post, or any flat vertical surface for an easy and secure mounting solution. The house can be easily lifted off the mount for cleaning or relocating.

**An optional cedar branch hanging mount with chains and hooks can be purchased for an additional fee if preferred.

Door, window, ridge cap, stones and other embellishments will vary as they are hand cut and selected from natural materials. We will customize a house with your choice of colors, door and window shapes, and wood accents based on your preferences. All our products are handmade by us in Louisa VA. We use 100% reclaimed wood sourced from old barns, cabins, farmhouses, or historic buildings. The wood is cut in a unique way to preserve and highlight the rough texture with all its unique character. Each piece may contain a mixture of wood species including Oak, Poplar and Pine. Every piece is one of a kind. Each piece of wood contains its own unique historic signature. In stock items ship one day following order placement. Lead time for out-of-stock or custom items is 1-2 weeks from order placement to shipment. We will provide an estimated ship time when an order is placed.
