Vintage rutilated quartz cabochon that comes from a private collection put away more than 30 years ago!
Much of the rutilated quartz in the current market comes from China. The classic material, and the finest, came from Brazil in the 1970's. This lovely high domed cabochon is from Minas Gerais, Brazil and represents the best of the original production.
This stone measures 25mm x 12.5mm top and would be ideal for wire wrapping or bezel setting. It weighs 30.23 carats!
The material is very transparent with minimal flaws. The rutile is a dark golden yellow and takes the form of thick golden needles filling the entire cabochon and one dense spray along one side.
