My story...
I am an undated edition of Fairy Tales Stories and Legends by Hans Andersen published by Odham's Press.
Odham's advertised these books in the newspapers they owned in the early 1930s for great prices to increase their sales!

Practicalities:
-I measure H 19cm by W 12.5cm.
-I weigh 522g.

Condition Summary:
My general condition is very good plus with only minor signs of age and use.
For specific condition points see below.

Why buy me?
I am a grand looking book - a splendid yet humble, 1930s book made of brown, textured cloth made to look like faux leather, with classic, gold gilt titles and finishing stripes to my spine ends.
My mottled, brown, hardcover front is embossed with the Odham's ship emblem, with top smaller decoration to the corners, and double blind pressed around the edges on my front and back. I have similar embossment down my spine.
My page edges have been dyed a purple-brown on their top only.
Open me up to see end papers that are a contrasting light, chestnut-brown and very clean and clear from inscriptions.
I also boast a decorated title page and a black and white ink line drawing portrait of my author.
Aside from my prolific tales I contain:
- an introduction
- four pages of contents titles - I contain 75 tales! (see photos)
- an alphabetical index to the tales.
My pages are made of good quality paper, that are in remarkable condition give or take a few age marks and some paper age toning.
The wonderful thing about this series of books is that the binding is really robust and the hardcovers too seem to have ridden the waves of time superbly well - I have years more reading life left in me still!

As I am around 90 years old I will have some signs of age and use:

Hardcovers: spine ends rolled and gently worn at their extremities; corners only rolled on the front cover; some gentle rubbing to the top of the hinge cloth on the front cover.
Page edges: the top edge has a few small rubs on its surface; the long edge is age toned with some surface rubs and a light knock to the lower end; the bottom edge is in very good, less age toned condition with only a few superficial surface rubs.
Endpapers: there are a few pin prick dots here and there at each end - really minor.
Reading pages: age toned around their edges and generally in excellent condition. You can tell the pages have been turned as some are mildly curved on their corners - to call it creasing would be extreme.
All the above condition points are really mild.

A note from my seller:
This is a gorgeous, vintage Fairy Tale book containing a huge list of stories both familiar and new. I can imagine it being read as you are all snuggled up in front of a real fire with the surrounding shadows and light adding to the drama of the stories - a classic book of classic tales to treasure!

I will be sent Royal Mail second class signed for delivery in the UK and Royal Mail International, tracked worldwide. Please message me for worldwide postage costs if not displayed.
