Vintage Kosta Boda Atelier - Signed B. Vallien - Stunning Cone top Paperweight - Original Label - Incredible Glass Work - Swedish Art Glass

Oh my goodness I adore this paperweight!

This is a true piece of art glass from Kosta Boda, the Swedish glassmaking shop. The piece is signed by B. (Bertil) Vallien. In the photo it looks as if the signature and number are written in black - but in actuality the undersigned text it etched into the crystal glass base. The original Kosta Boda tag is still attached. Vallien is one of the world's leading glass sculptors.

I'm not even sure where to start. It appears as if two matte black blobs (I know there is a better word!) had a striped array of various colored glass that extends from the top black piece to the bottom one. Those two pieces have been placed one atop the other. In between the black glass pieces, there is a bubble encased in the clear crystal glass. This pieces are held in suspension by clear crystal glass in the shape of a cone.

The cone shape accentuates the play of light within the elements. At times, the multicolored stripe glows! It is quite striking! The paperweight is about 3.5 inches tall.

In terms of condition - it is near mint. The ONLY issue I see is that the Kosta Boda tag is a bit work at the edges. But the actual art glass is in mint condition with no scratches or chips.

When I first saw this piece, it reminded me of the album cover of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon. The prism effect, the triangular cone and the play of light...lovely! Of course, it is an exquisite piece of Swedish art glass as well!
