Vintage Make-Do Farmhouse Coat Rack
This is an ADORABLE Make-Do Coat Rack from the 1800's. As shown, someone used a leftover section of beautifully HAND CARVED molding, SQUARE NAILS and a little creativity to fashion a coat rack.
Definitely FARMHOUSE CHIC, this piece has CHARACTER GALORE! Close-ups of the molding show the layers of whitewash used over time to brighten the piece. The uneven panel adds to the authenticity of the need to make use of whatever was available at the time. The square head nails add to the CHARM!
(I put the long picture hanger on the back, to use the piece in my workroom, but a more substantial hanger should be attached to take the weight of coats or anything heavy).
Measures approx. 13" cross the top, 11 3/4" across the bottom, 5 1/2" wide, 1 1/2" deep including molding at top, 2" deep including nail heads at bottom. Lightweight weathered wood.
Overall, a DELIGHTFUL piece to add to any room of your home. Adorable in a child's room/guest room with a Christening gown and a Teddy Bear hanging from it, in a country bath for guest towels or robes, in a kitchen with lovely old aprons suspended, in a top laundry room to add character!
