This is a sake cup by Shouami, a Kiyomizu ware potter.
The shape of the cup is in the shape of a turtle shell, which is good for good luck. The "Fukurokuju" (Longevity and Happiness) painted in between the dyed patterns is also very festive, making it a stylish vessel for drinking and serving.
Indigo color tone. This drinking vessel is dyed using only gosu, which is typical of Kiyomizu ware.
The inside is decorated with patterns of begonia. This is a design that is promised to be used on the most expensive dyed works. The surface is hexagonally beveled to make it easier to hold.
Each piece is hand-painted by a craftsman. This is the ultimate sake cup.
This is a dignified sake cup made using various traditional techniques of Kyoyaki. It is a perfect gift for a collection.
