Rare Antique Silver top Handled Leg of Lamb Holder - Carving Utensil

This unusual item is used to assist in carving a leg of lamb or similar joint of meat that is on the bone. One clamps the bone in the steel vice section so it can be held more steadily than when using a carving fork. The style of top the silver handle is French and dates from the early part of the last century. There are some hallmarks that read 'S L', between these two letters is a swan and below is the profile of female face. The item is in very good used condition with some light rusting to the steel section (see pics). It has a length of just over 21cm, when opened to its widest point, the clamp could hold a bone with an approximate diameter of 2cm.
