This is a unique vintage Eastern European grain sack dating from around 1900 - 1950s.These sacks were hand woven and once used for storing and transporting farmer's grains from the top fields to market. Each family had their own design (number of stripers, colors, etc.) so that when the sack were discarded after being emptied, each family know whose grains sacks belonged to whom. These fabrics were made to last. They are ideal for many projects such as pillow covers, table runners, upholstery projects, bathmats, drawer sashes, wallpaper, and even for casual purses or other fashion items.
