A lovely rendition of Mr Pickwick by Royal Doulton, the designed is registered as HN2099.
Star of Charles Dickens' "The Pickwick Papers", Mr Pickwick is one of a number of Doulton Dickens character figurines. They were made in two sizes: this example is of the larger variety.
Various interpretations of Pickwick were made by Doulton between 1922 and 1983. HN2099 is attributed to designed Leslie Harradine and was produced between 1952 and 1967. I remember this one in our house in the 1960s, so it can be safely dated to that time period. Made of fine high top glaze china, the figurine features beautiful detail of Victorian dress, including a quizzing glass, blue and white check stock, and tail coat and hat.
In excellent condition, it was kept in a display case until 2002 then put into storage. No box.
Great for a present or your own enjoyment.
