Custom Pet Portraits

I love to paint pet portraits and have many satisfied clients over the past 20 years.
I describe my work as expressionistic! I use color to create mood and interest. I am NOT a photo realist.

My work is hand painted on gessoed canvas with professional grade acrylic paint, and varnished before shipping. Because the paint and varnish have to dry orders will take 2-3 weeks so please plan accordingly if this is meant for a gift.

I'm currently only offering these two sizes of acrylic on canvas for quicker and easier shipping.
8x8, 0r 8x10 plus as an artist I firmly believe that people should purchase original art, and I prefer to keep my pieces reasonably priced. Being a school teacher for 35+ years did not give me a lot of extra cash to spend on art, but I tried to buy from other local artist and have original work.

Please send several photos of your pet. Tips below for taking those photos. Also, tell me about their personality, how they add to your life and some of the colors in your home. I will contact you through the process to confirm I have captured the essence of your beloved pet.

Take your pet outside in the natural light. The camera flash scares some pets and causes red-eye.
As they say, “Eyes are the Window to the Soul” and pets eye can be very expressive. So make sure to focus on your pet's eyes and keep the tack sharp.
Most important is to get down to his level. Sit on the floor or lie on your belly and remember to shoot from HIS top eye level or below.
Fill the frame with your pet's face and fur.
Pet photography requires a lot of patience.
Take your time and enjoy the session, try different approaches, angles and compositions.
