Authentic Icelandic Lambskin (Raised in Oregon) top | Eco Woolie Throw for Baby Bassinet Crib Nursery | Single-Pelt Sheepskin Seat Pad Cushion
100% Purebred Icelandic Lambskin Throw 28" x 20"
The fleece/fiber color is referred to as "gray" meaning the lamb has an undercoat (thel) of white and an outer coat (tog) of black. There are hints of silver and golden-tan in the undercoat that make the black curls, at times, look a little gray to brown depending on the light. It's a gorgeous pelt.
The pelt is from a 6-month old, Oregon-raised, Icelandic lamb that died of natural causes.
A few important things to know:
1) As a 6-month old, the lambskin is very fine/thin but this also makes it extremely soft.
2) There are a few holes/tears in the skin/hide that occurred during the tanning/stretching process. --> Please see all photos.
3) This lambskin is hand processed without the use of harmful chemicals (which is very nice if you are wanting to place your baby on it).
4) BUT, because of the natural tanning process I use, it is not waterproof.
5) **If the hid is to become wet/saturated, it will need to be stretched while drying or it can become stiff. This can be done by pulling it across the top of a wooden chair periodically while drying out.
6) If the curls start to straighten during use, you can get your hand wet and re-scrunch the curls. Some folks use a small mister but remember not to get the hide underneath too wet.
